25 Days of Makeup – Day 14 – Celebrity Inspired

Day 14 is celebrity inspired, I chose to do a look based on Jennifer Lawrence’s character, Rosalyn Rosenfeld from American Hustle. I loved her look in the promo images for the movie. So, last night put the movie on and created this look. To see how I got the look and some tips on doing eyeshadow on hooded eyes, keep reading.

Let’s get started.

The first thing I did was fill in my brows, I tried to give them a natural fill and made the look as similar to her’s as possible. Then I cleaned up the shape and primed my eyes with the elf eyeshadow primer. I used a cream near flesh-colored eyeshadow as a base.

Excuse the redness, It’s just makeup. I couldn’t get it out of my lash line. Anyway, I then took a matte gray shadow with a blue undertone and blended it into my crease and down onto the lid.

In the pictures I looked up of Jennifer, her eye shadow appeared to be a cool gray shade with a bit of shine on the lid and brow bone.

Using a matte shade in the crease of you have hooded eyes will help create depth where as a shimmer will highlight it. I like to keep the shimmer just to the lid. If your lid isn’t visible I’d say stick with matte shades and highlight the inner corner with a shimmer or any lid space that does show.

photo 20151214_025027-1_zpsdtslro8s.jpgI added a shimmery gray to the lid and went over it with the matte to take down some of the shine.

Any shimmery gray will do. I’m using shadows from a Tarte palette but these shades are easily found in other palettes and singles.
photo pixlr_20151214053047978_zpsrspjya61.jpgI took Revolver from The Vice 3 Palette because it’s a dark blue based gunmetal color with a slight sheen. I used it to line my upper lash line first then blended it in to create a smokey look.

photo 20151214_033218-1_zps2te9nf72.jpgI used the same liner on the lower lash line and blended it with the matte gray. I highlighted my brow bone and inner corner with a pale barely blue shade with a subtle shimmer.

On Jennifer’s lips, it appears to be a glossy pinky berry shade.

The finished look!

I keep the skin dewy and the contour and highlight subtle. For blush, I used The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ambient Flush and The Hourglass Luminous Bronze in light for my bronzer. I wanted the skin to look natural and healthy.
