REVIEW + DEMO | L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer + Powder

Guapo Style Blog (4)

Hey! What’s up, guys?! Today, I have a review of the L’Oreal Infallible Pro – Glow Concealer and Powder.  I have been testing this two out for over a month now and it’s the dead of Summer here in Louisiana which means hot as balls and just as swampy. Yuck, too descriptive…  Anyway, I have really put these through the ringer so let’s see how well they performed.

Like I said, I have really been putting these guys through it this Summer and I am really pleased to say they have stood the test of heat, humidity, my skin who can’t decide if it’s dry as the desert or an oil slick. It changes on a whim. But yeah, the L’Oreal Infallible  Pro-Glow Concealer and Powder have been my go-to’s for sure in conjunction with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation which I review this time last year when she launched, you can see that full review and demo here: L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation Review + Demo.

The Concealer

Back to the subject at hand. Let’s start with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer because while I love it on a whole, there are a few things I want to mention about it.

Pro Glow Review (4)
L’Oreal Infallible  Pro-Glow Concealer and Powder

First thing is the shade range which is kind of limited for use super pale vamps out there and for Women of Color. It’s the typical middle ground selection. I have the shade Classic Ivory, which I have in the foundation and the foundation is one of the best shade matches I have ever found at the drugstore! But the concealer seems 3 shades deeper than the foundation. What the actual fuck is up with that? You will see the shade later in the post on my skin in the demo. I don’t know if maybe they have tweaked the shade range since I purchased the foundation or what.

I found a way to get around this little issue thankfully, by applying the concealer first under the foundation or mixing a little bit of my Kat Von D Lock-It Creme Concealer in White-out with the L’Oreal concealer. This actually ended up making a great combination because it thins out the KVD some. If you have used the KVD Lock-It, you know it’s a rather heavy and thick concealer and can be a bit of pain in the butt because of that so adding the L’Oreal Pro-Glow to it gives a great consistency being that the Pro-Glow is a very thin concealer.

Speaking of consistency and formula, the Pro-Glow Concealer has a very thing light coverage formula. It’s very light under the eye and aside from having the adjust for the color match, it’s a very easy product to work with. It blends out like a dream and melts into the skin. I think it gives a very natural, and dewy finish that I find to be very flattering on my combo skin. It’s like an airbrushed, blurred and lit from within look on the skin. It gives me a natural skin like finish. I adore it and because I like the finish and the way it wears on my skin I am willing to adjust the shade to get my perfect match. Mind you, that isn’t an uncommon thing I have to do because I am really fair. Not much is light enough for me.

The concealer is also fairly buildable on its own without looking cakey. I think this one is ideal for dry and mature skin. Oily girls may not enjoy this one too much unless you like a radiant finish. This is one of the few products that are glowy, that I think oily girls could really use though because if it’s long wearing capabilities. Your skin isn’t going to feel greasy. These products do set on the skin and doesn’t feel tacky to the touch.

The Powder

Now, let’s talk about this powder. This is a pretty unique powder for the drugstore.

Pro Glow Review (3)
L’Oreal Infallible  Pro-Glow Powder

I haven’t enjoyed a drugstore face powder since the Revlon PhotoReady Pressed Powder. This little lady gives you a demi-matte finish, so if you want super matte skin this isn’t the one for you but I love me some dewy radiant skin. This powder sets my makeup perfectly for the day but doesn’t look overly powdery or flat by as means. It’s light and skin like just like the foundation and concealer.

The shade selection here is again, limited. However, I don’t find it to be too dark for me at all. it’s just right in fact.

Now what makes this powder so unique is that you have two sections, one side that is matte, then you have the top half which is radiant. Reminiscent of Hourglass’s Ambient Lighting Powders, or the new Urban Decay Illuminating Powder. It’s not shimmery or like a full on highlight. It’s just glowy and radiant.

You can use the matte half to set your face and swirl together for a finishing powder effect to give the skin a soft natural glow or you can go straight into the highlight section at the top and use it as a very subtle highlight on the high points of the face.  I personally just swirl them all together and use them all over.

If you have oily skin but still want your makeup set and not be super matte or you want to have just certain portions of the face glowy, this would be a great product to try out and play with. As for dry skin, yes girl yes! It’s the dream face powder at the drugstore.

As far as longevity, girl, it’s there. It claims to give you 16 hours of wear time, and I have def worm it over 16 hours in a given day. For example; A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I went out of town to shop. This was a day the temp was well over 95 degrees. The heat index was around 100 degrees, typical for LA. So this was an hour in the car, 4 hours at the mall shopping, walking around, trying on clothes, getting sweaty, you know how it is. Then, an hour ride home, back to her place to change into our new clothes. At this point, I reapplied powder to forehead and chin because I get oily there. After that, we went to the bar for Karaoke and stayed there until about 2 am. I had applied my makeup that day at around 9 am and washed it off around 2:30 – 3 am I think. The makeup was on roughly 18 hours and girl, it looked great when I got home considering the day. I had a little wear on my nose because I rubbed it and a tad on the chin because again, I touch there. My husband and roommate both commented on how well it held up. I was shook! … I’ll go home…

The Demo

Now onto the demo so you can see how these products actually look on my skin. As I have mentioned I have combo skin. It’s dry but oily at the same time because it’s indecisive just likes it’s mama. LOL!

Anyway, as Coffee Break with Dani would say, ” Welcome to mah face!”

Here we have my skin in all it’s pale but red freckled glory of a 30-year-old. ( I am normally paler but I accidentally got a slight “tan”. Still confused on how the hell that happened because girl, I burn like bacon normally.)  I have only used some moisturizer to prep my skin because I just forgot to prime. I typically wear a pore minimizing primer but I completely forgot on this day. I always do my eye makeup first out of habit so ignore that.

So for demo sake, I didn’t mix anything in the concealer so this is how it matches my skin on it’s own. I am applying before foundation cause it would look too dark.

This is a thin layer applied to all the areas I would normally use my concealer.

Pro Glow Review (13)

I blended the concealer out with a damp Eco Tools Sponge. You can see the shade difference and there is some slight clinging to dry patches which is every product for me. I love the finish on this concealer though. Being a tad deeper than my skin tone kind of gave me some color correction under my eye, so that’s a perk there.  My under eyes do look nice, bright and not dry yet the concealer has set.

Pro Glow Review (15)

I went ahead and did my foundation with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation and blended it in with the concealer so the color is evened out and looks like one.

Here is a look at the under eye before I set everything.

Pro Glow Review (12)

And here we have the face powdered with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Powder. I love the finish. It’s velvety, set for the day but not flat or overly matte. It looks like it’s glowing from within but not oily looking. This is the finish I look for in every product I try.

Pro Glow Review (11)

Here’s a close up of the under eye once all is set. There is minimal creasing, and the ones that are there are just from me squinting and farting around with my camera before I set everything. It’s more human error than the product and I am 30 years old. Girl, I got some lines and I squint  A LOT!.  Anyway, I think it looks pretty damn good considering. On a normal day, I would set it much quicker and avoid creasing but like I said, I had to fart around with my camera.  This concealer sets down so you don’t have a lot of play time with it.  Pro Glow Review (10)

Okay, here is the finished face. I mean… I like that I can see my freckles and my skin looks real. I have some slight creasing around the mouth and chin. I’M OLD! No, I have deep nasal labial creases around my mouth and my chin area has a huge crease in it by nature already (and my over bite). That is my trouble area. Especially that crease in my chin, it gets so dry right there but super oily. Look at the bare face. It looks fucked there, to begin with.

Pro Glow Review (14)

Here’s another close-up. Funny, I don’t notice my lines until I look at a picture. Sheesh. I smirk way too much and cause creasing. I make a damn near Elvis face all the time. It’s just mah face. LOL.

  1. These look really good. It’s so frustrating when the concealers with the same name are a different colour and so many seem to go darker but they actually worked. I’ve somehow managed to get a surprise tan this year too, it snuck up on me and my normal foundation is the wrong shade now, lol.

    1. Yeah, like I get why the concealers are darker or peachy for color correcting so underneath foundation it’s great but for highlighting the way concealer is used more now, it don’t work out so well. lol.

My foundations just match now, with out me having to add white mixers to them. lol. I don’t look that pale in pics or in the mirror but once I put the foundation on it’s too deep. Somehow seems to always suprise me. I have been doing makeup for a good 15 years. I should know by now what is gonna happen. LOL!
