Get the Look | DUST - Makeup Tutorial feat. Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette + Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance + Colourpop

Another oddly timed post. Killing it in 2018 with keeping to a schedule eh? Like I said in my last couple of posts, I have been sick and am awaiting some dental work which means I have been in on and off pain, and my sleep schedule is all kinds of messed up. It’s 1 am and I am up for the day.  Anyway, I am back to the grind today and am determined to get back on track.

In today’s post, I have a makeup tutorial for this look I called Dust. As per usual it was inspired by a song. This time it was a song from Fields of the Nephilim called Dust of the album Dawnrazor. I wanted to do a look using the shade Chalice from the Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette because it is a very unique shimmery brown with antiqued bronze tones that can pull either warm or cool depending on the shades used with it. This is a relatively simple look compared to most of what I have been doing lately but I really liked how it came out.

So if you want to see how I got this look, just keep reading below.

The Eyes

I am using two eyeshadow palettes for this look, The Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance. The only downside to the Saints & Sinners Palette is I need to pull mattes and transition shades from other palettes but that is just me and I am pretty damn extra about my transition and crease shades.

I started out like I always do with my eyebrows done, lids primed, concealed, set and ready for a base shade. For my base shade, I used Amen from the KVD Saints & Sinners Palette.

I applied Amen, a matte cream all over the lid, crease and to the brow bone. This is just one of those perfect base shades for my skin tone.

Jumping over to the ABH Modern Renaissance, I took the shade Golden Ochre which is an earthy yellow matte shadow.

I blended Golden Ochre into the crease and up and out in the transition area and toward the inner part of the brow bone on a large fluffy brush.

To further deepen the crease and transition shade I went in with Raw Sienna, a matte neutral amber on a smaller blending brush.

This shade was placed a little more concentrated in the crease and blended out into Golden Ochre. These two shades work together beautifully.

I applied Warm Taupe on a small tapered blending brush lightly into the outer corner and onto the crease.

I went back and forth between these 3 matte shades until it was blended perfectly. I pulled Warm Taupe upward toward the tail of my brow softly to elongate the eye.

Now for the shade that inspired the whole look. Chalice described as a metallic antique bronze.

I applied this shade with my finger all over the mobile lid up to the crease.

Now for the liner. I wanted to do a classic wing, for this I used the Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner and an angled liner brush.

The wing is simple and clean.  At this point, I made sure I was happy with the blend and a added a touch more Golden Ochre around the outer edges of the shadow to keep that yellow feel in the look. This look is as if you were matching your eyes to Dwight Shurte’s wardrobe.

I finished up my face makeup and moved on to the lower lash line by first blending a  combination of Raw Sienna and Warm Taupe starting at the outer corner and blending inward. I also blended a bit of Golden Orchre just below the Raw Sienna to get a smooth, blown out shadow.

On the inner corner, I took my highlight shade from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Contour and Highlight Palette. I used the shade Stunner.

I finished off the eye with L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar X Fiber Mascara.

I wanted the lips to be soft, so I went with Kathleen Lights x Colourpop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick in Dreamy.
